RULES OF OUR TOURNAMENTS

All attending clubs MUST pre warn their members and supporters that, if they are rude and argumentative to our staff, they will jeopardise their club and themselves being banned from future events. We pride our events on being the fairest events run in the U.K. but put our staff first in regards to safety, so abusing them will result in your club being removed from our future events.

Any member of staff, weather judge or referee, that is threatend by supporters or competitors will find charges will be taken against them as we deem the safety of our staff top priority.

Both the South East Opens & Invites are the L.T.S.I.'s Regional Championships.


At the beginng of all tournaments, ALL competing students will be lined up in grade order and the rules and regulations of the event will be made clear - this will happen for both junior and senior tournaments. All competitors will be called to attention and the tenets and oath will be recited by the most senior on the floor.

Patterns:

  • All patterns are performed one competitor at a time per mat
  • Either three or five judges will judge the pattern
  • All judges will have a clicker and will click amount of mistakes made 
    • Player one is a yellow belt - for yellow to green belts, a score between 3 and 5 will be given
    • Each of the numbers represent 10 points, so 20 points can be deducted
    • Player one makes 11 mistakes - his score is 3.9 
    • Judges write on a white board and show their score
  • If five judges are used, the highest and lowest score is deleted
  • If theee judges are used, all scores are added together
  • Highest point holders are the winner
  • In the case of a tie, play off will be held

Sparring:

  • 10th to 7th Kup - point sparring
  • 6th Kup to 7th Dan - continuous sparring
  • Points are used to find winner
    • Flying kick to head - 3 points
    • Kick to head - 2 points
    • Kick to mid section - 1 point
    • Jumping punch - 2 points
    • Flurry of punches - 2 points 
    • Three punch rule applies
  • No kicking to any part of the back of the body
  • No low kicking
  • Arguing with the referee / judge is instant disqualification 
  • Family members being rude to our staff is an instant disqualification and removal from event
    • Safety gear must be worn - all of the following are compulsory:
    • Head guard
    • Hand pads
    • Foot pads
    • Shin guards
    • Groin box (males only)
    • Mouth guards

Breaking:

  • Only over 18's are permitted to do any kind of breaking
  • Bare foot or hand must be used - no covering (2 white boards)
  • Children and teens do the designated technique on a power meter
